Methyl Chloride (also known as Chloromethane, CH₃Cl) is a colorless, flammable gas with a mild, ether-like odor. It is widely used in the production of silicone polymers, as a refrigerant, and as a methylating agent in the synthesis of various chemicals, including pharmaceuticals and agricultural products. Methyl Chloride is also used in the manufacturing of methyl cellulose and other methylated compounds. Due to its flammability and toxicity, proper safety precautions are necessary when handling and using this chemical in industrial processes.
